Getting full Android Market Access on the hiapad C8

When I first got the table one of the first things I did was to try and install skype, not that I use it for video calls but I do for IM.  It was migging from the market, this is the first time that it had been on any of my devices.  This is how I enabled full market access.

After searching arround on some fourms I found a suggested solution was to edit the /system/build.prop and change the fingerprint of the device.  I also changed the description, but that might not be necessary.

Edit /system/build.prop and find ro.build.fingerprint

My original value was set to :

generic/utv210/utv210/smdkv210:2.2/FRF91/
eng.urbetter.20110315.095158:eng/test-keys

I changed this to :

samsung/GT-P1000/GT-P1000/GT-P1000:2.2/
FROYO/XXJJ3:user/release-keys

Please note the line-breaks are not in the actual string – just here so they fit on the width or this post.

Additionally I made up a ro.build.description change it from :

utv210-eng 2.2 FRF91 eng.urbetter.20110315.095158 test-keys

To :

samsung-eng 2.2 GTP1000 eng.FROYO.20110315.095158 release-keys

Once that was updated I followed these steps :

  • Open the Market
  • Settings -> Manage Applications
  • Find Market
  • Clear Cache
  • Force Stop
  • Back – Find Google Services Framework
  • Clear Data
  • re open market – it’ll error
  • And restart

Once it has finished restarting, try to open the Market – depending on how long you lets it wait to boot up after restarting it might error.  That’s fine just keep trying to open the Market until it stops throwing errors.

After this change I was able to find & install Skype, Launcher Pro, and all 3 version of Angry Birds, none of which were there before.

With the exception of Skype (another post coming soon on this) all of them are working flawlessly.
