Well I’ve gone through a few devices and managed to break all of them so far! Mainly due to my butter fingers, the devices have slipped through my grip and broken as they crashed into the ground.
Being ever-so-optimistic, I’ve found 2 upside to this. I have :-
- a bunch of spares that I could now cobble something together;
- the best by far, a brand spanking new tablet.
While the tablet isn’t anything like a xoom, it’s good enough in fact better than my last one. This tablet came from china, it arrived here in the UK in less than 3 days (DHL Express Shipping is all good!).
So the table is a “generic” entitled “MID_Serials” the model number is MID SM500CC.
The CPU is a Samsung Cortex A8 S5PV210 chip, and it’s very snappy.
I think it’s main, physical, draw back is the resolution (800×480) of the 7″ display.
However the mini HDMI out, 2 mini usb ports, microSD Card slots and audio jack make up for the resolution. Not to mention the little leather keyboard & case that I the seller threw in for free, make it a netbook as well as a tablet – I’m lovin’ this one.
One of the issue I had with my last tablet – some clone of a clone of the ipad – was that it didn’t have any form of recovery. There’s was no chance of updating the ROM with new firmware, and a lot of people tried on XDA – ended up with bricked devices. As it happens mine ended up failing to charge, it’ll be taken apart one day and I’ll try to replace the batteries.
So, that’s my new device, I’ll be making some notes on how it goes with it here and hopefully it’ll last a bit longer than the others!
